TRANSITIONING MILITARY VETERANS

BACKGROUND

RESEARCH: The following statistics are compiled from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and U.S. Department of Government Affairs.

· 5.0 million - The number in 2023 of U.S. veterans who served during the Gulf War era (Aug. 1990 onward). There were 17.9 million total veterans in the United States in 2023.

· 241,000 – The total number of unemployed veterans in the United States in 2023.

· 250,000 – The number of service members who enter civilian life each year.

· 6.0% - The unemployment rate in 2023 among veterans of the second Gulf War era (September 2001 to today). The unemployment rate for all veterans was 3.3% in 2023.

· 2.4 million – The number of veterans, or about 46% of the total, with a service-connected disability in 2023.

FACTS: The following data is derived from our research and on-going coaching, counsel, vision facilitation and strategic planning with mission critical executives. (CXO’s)

· Most of the data center operations personnel that perform various job functions now, came up through the ranks by “learning the hard way” and a band-aid approach to the sophisticated systems of today, and especially in the future, will fall short of the requirements from planning to commissioning. This current situation could create catastrophic results if we don’t start to address the critical need for properly and formally trained IT Professionals.

· Major mission critical job opportunities are missed due to the fact that there is no way for an individual to sort through what credentials are worth having. There is no formal credentialing program.

· Some of our employees throughout the years have been asked to leave the company, because they have made mistakes that cost our organization tremendous amounts of money…if only they had the proper training to make them aware of issues that pertain to the complexities of a data center, they may have prevented those “simple” mistakes and still be in our employ.
